Summer Camp 2010

Canada Hindu Heritage centre hosted a summer camp for children of ages between 5 and 12, for 8 weeks, which ended on 27th August. Many children participated and passed through the camp at different points. Yes, this camp offered all the fun activities as any other camp in town but it did not stop just with that. The team members of this camp exhibited a contagious and exemplary spirit of enthusiasm to reach out to the community at times of need and that precisely made this camp one of a kind. The team members of this camp exhibited a contagious and exemplary spirit of enthusiasm to reach out to the community at times of need and that precisely made this camp one of a kind. Although the camp hours were from 9am to 4 pm, extended childcare coverage was provided from 7am to 6 pm. But, there arose a need by some parents to further extend this coverage from 6am to 7 pm and one would be surprised at the immediate positive response from the volunteers to undertake this task, despite their busy summer activities. No doubt, they could be doing many different things on a warm summer evening. Instead, they chose to be at the camp just to show how much they care for the community and that is what made this camp unique. There were a few children with special needs and once again there were smiling volunteers ever ready to oblige. It all proved that there is no dearth of kindness and caring attitude and this camp was one that exploited this side of a person to the core.
